If your knowledge of computers and operating systems is extremely minimal, which is the case with me, then this book is great. I wanted to make a simple database with access and I had no idea how to use it, or connect it with any of the other Office programs. This book explained it in a way that allowed me to do what I wanted. There is certainly more advanced knowledge on the subject, and if you consider yourself an expert, this probably isn't for you. But for beginners, it's great.
Got this as an on-site reference for the teachers after our private church school completely overhauled the IT system. Having this brought them up to speed on 2013 in terms of usability and general comfort. It doesn't get too technical, nor too broad. Having each program in the suite in a separate chapter is excellent and makes for quick answers. If you are looking for a good use guide, this is probably a good one to have. But, if you are looking for power-user tricks and tips, go with the high-end techie ones.
I am almost computer illiterate and this saved my life. SOOO helpful
In my humble opinion this is a must have book for anyone just starting out or maybe one upgrading from a much earlier version. It is well written and clearly covers the basics of the Office Suite. There is plenty of information here to get you up and running. I'll give it five stars for a book in the "for Dummies" category.
We got this book for my husband as we had just upgraded our computer and he was having trouble adjusting to the newest version of Microsoft Office. He keeps it open by the computer which has helped us to avoid much heartache and frustration. He has found it easy to read and follow. The instructions are explicit and complete, not assuming you have a lot of previous knowledge'
Where would we be without Dummies. This book has helped me to appreciate Office 2013 more and I have discovered so much.
Like so many of the books in the Dummies series, I find the content clear and directly applicable. I was upgrading from 2007 so needed help with the new look and changed location of various tools. I wish it were possible to buy this separately bound for the different Office applications because the book now if a bit heavy to handle.
There is so much different now on office from the much older versions of Word and Excel that I have used for years, and I am starting from scratch to learn Powerpoint. Plus changing to Windows 8 where so much is different I felt helpless at the start. I read descriptions and reviews for eight books, and decided to start with this book. I am pleased with this book. It also has sections on One Note 2013, Outlook 2013, Access 2013, and some other helpful sections.
