So, no background in coding is required.Many of these functions build off of each other. Using this function of Excel, you will be able to create applications customized for to your needs such as automatically analyzing a chart of data, using formulas to collect data, or creating dialogue boxes and customized user forms. Useful guide forever. Prescribed!
This book is written in a friendly, chatty, conversational style. If you want to learn how to "runt he" application, this book is for you. If you don't mind troubleshooting your first macro that you've copied word-for-word from the book because it starts with "ub" instead of the more commonly used "sub", this book has your name on it. You're not a dummy if you can figure out that when the author gives an example, "Dim Book... Dog = "labradoodle" ", he's telling you that he hasn't figured out what he's coding - dogs or books. I may be a little too harsh. These are little things. But, then again, programming isn't very forgiving. So, if you're a fan of puzzles with a few pieces missing and the wrong picture on the front of the box, buy this book. You'll love it, too.
That being said, this book is purely for introductory purposes. Assuming you know how to work with Excel, this book will greatly help you get a start on VBA for Excel. This book doesn't cover the kind of topics you would find in the Power Programming in Excel VBA book, but it covers really basic topics for anyone.
As a professional VBA developer I can tell you that this book is what I recommend anyone who is a non-programmer wanting to learn Excel VBA to improve their productivity. It is fantastic. I have taught sales guys to use this to generate simple Excel VBA demos and tools for improving their own productivity.
This book gives you a great intro to the concept of VBA and many of the common commands and procedures in plain, easily understood writing.That being said, this book is purely for introductory purposes. Assuming you know how to work with Excel, this book will greatly help you get a start on VBA for Excel.
