I am doing all the research I can prior to adding a hedgie to our family of pets. I purchased this book to help me with the information I will need in order to be a successful quill-kid parent. This book is very well written and explicit concerning the proper care of your hedgehog. It contains everything from chosing the correct breeder (don't buy from a pet shop) to trimming nails and everything in between. I am a children's librarian and would definitely consider adding this book to our collection. The book is taliored to adults but can easily be understood by a child at a 5th grade reading level.I recommend this well written volume to anyone who is thinking of adding this exotic pet to the family. Thank you Kate for a well written read.
I think that this book is very informational and also easy to understand. It tells you all the basics for hedgehog ownership and I highly recommend it. I think that this book is better than the other two that I downloaded with it; they said it was okay to feed hedgies dairy!I have read this book twice and plan to read it again when I get my hedgehog in December. The only thing that I don't like about this eBook is that it doesn't give you as many examples as I would have liked. For instance, it didn't say anything about Carolina Storm wheels in the bucket wheels section, which is definitely a mistake.All in all, this was an amazing read and would give it ten stars if I could.
You can find all of this information online. Probably all on one website alone (which she references in this book).There is a grand total of 6 pictures in this book. One of them is on the cover the rest are black and white on the chapter headings.The font is huge and double spaced. Which is great if your eyesight isn't. But if you're expecting 158 pages of information it really is more like 79.
This was an easy read. I like that it has large font and a more informal "speech". I would have liked some colored photos to go along with instructions on how to bathe or trim nails on my hedgehog and just cute hedgie pics overall. Not as informative and full of specific facts as "A Complete Pet Owner's Manual: Hedgehogs" but it did have some helpful tips and advise that the other book did not have such as what Hedgehog brand foods are actually good if you can find them and what to do to keep your hedgie warm if you're taking him on a long car ride in a pet carrier.
I like this book and find the information useful. There are some things that the book mentions that I don't agree with (This is since I do other research other than one book) but other than that I find a lot of things helpful and it is a good idea to have a book like this when getting your first Hedgie.
If you want this, then just get the kindle version. I was thinking there were more pictures, etc, but it is pretty much just words and looks like what you would see on the kindle screen. Good and informative, but unless you need a hard copy the kindle version would be fine.
It contains info to help you start out but I dont think this book is the book you want if your serious about hedgehog ownership. It really does have limited info.
This book has helped me understand how to care for my hedgehog, it matches with what the breeder has told me and helps immensely!
